With almost 30 years of tattooing under his belt, shop owner/artist Todd “Soup” Matyas is a bona fide tattoo sensei. Soup specializes in Japanese and traditional tattoo styles, but can confidently execute a wide variety of aesthetics thanks to his extensive expertise and artistic acumen. A young and rebellious Soup was inspired to pursue a career in tattooing from spending his teens in the Detroit punk scene, resulting in a long and prosperous career in the tattoo industry. The original owner of Birch Avenue Tattoo (2008-2017), Soup has overseen many eras of the tattoo shop at Flagstaff Tattoo Company’s current location, with this one being the best yet.
